Torres takes P1 from teammate Salvador as Ieraci puts the field on notice with his first WorldSPB podium
Final-sector theatrics saw the #47 pull ahead of the pair in dramatic fashion
Antonio Torres (Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI) punched his ticket back up onto the rostrum to take the lion’s share of points away from the final FIM Sportbike World Championship race of the Czech Round. A sunny afternoon at the Autodrom Most saw Torres win his second WorldSPB race, leading Bruno Ieraci (CM Triumph Factory Racing) in P2 for his first World Championship podium since 2024 in WorldSSP300 at Barcelona. Following the pair onto the rostrum, David Salvador (Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI) made it five rostrums in six races as the category closes their round in Czechia
T1 TUMBLE
Bruno Ieraci (CM Triumph Factory Racing) sailed forward from pole position ahead of a several-rider crash at the opening corner involving Jeffrey Buis (Track & Trades Wixx Racing), Loris Veneman (MTM Kawasaki), Humberto Maier (Yamaha AD78 FIMLA by MS Racing), his teammate Elia Bartolini (CM Triumph Factory Racing) and fellow Triumph rider Fenton Seabright (PHR Performance Triumph). Xavi Artigas (MTM Kawasaki) and Antonio Torres (Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI) took the initiative and gave chase, riding closest behind Ieraci in P1 as the race continued following the yellow flag.
DECISIVE FINAL SECTOR
A six-rider group emerged at the front as the race neared its midpoint, and the pack threw caution to the wind as they all doubled down for the race win. Pulling four-wide as they got on the brakes down into Turn 1, and by the end of Lap 7, Ieraci had regained his lead ahead of Torres, Artigas, Salvador and Kas Beekmans (VLR Racing Team Suzuki). Matteo Vannucci (Revo-M2) had a moment and narrowly avoided colliding with the riders ahead of him on the Run into Turn 1 on Lap 8, and with the group down to five, all but Beekmans had led the race. The last sector saw Salvador leading Ieraci, but on Turn 20, as the #68 and Artigas crashed out behind them, it was Torres who sprang a move past Ieraci and Salvador to become the first rider to win two races in the new category. Beekmans was handed a Long Lap penalty by FIM WorldSBK Stewards to be served next round for causing the crash.
RECOVERY RUN FOR THOMPSON
Matteo Vannucci (Revo-M2) took his Aprilia RS 660 Factory wide on the entry to the first corner on Lap 1, avoiding the crash as a result, and by Lap 2, he found his way into the top five. The late crash helped him finish P4, but he was unable to crack the podium. Carter Thompson (Team BrCorse) recovered from his Double Long Lap Penalty for Irresponsible Riding in Race 1 applied to him by FIM WorldSBK Stewards, finishing with a proud P5 three seconds behind the lead group. Harrison Dessoy (PHR Performance Triumph) closed what’s been a much-improved weekend with his second P6 of the round.
PERSONAL RECORD-TYING RESULTS
Felix Mulya (ProGP Nitiracing) tied his best-ever World Championship result of P7, twice achieved in WorldSSP300, and he met his high-water mark again in Race 2. Alvaro Fuertes (Deza-Box 77 Racing Team) tied his best result of the season so far in P8, ahead of Pepe Osuna (Deza-Box 77 Racing Team), who recovered to P9 after a Race 1 crash, and Ferre Fleerackers (Track & Trades Wixx Racing), who, in fifth in the Championship, closed Most with a tenth-place effort.
